
I met Greg through work. In our meeting he said he had a challenge in what he ate. He snacked. He snacked on chocolates. Looking at Greg you would be forgiven for thinking this wasn’t a big problem. He looked fit and trim. That’s because he was fit and trim. And he looked this way because he cycled, a lot.
He wanted to change his snacking habit so that he could get even trimmer, for cycling.
His challenge was that when he felt like a snack he ate chocolate, too much of it. And he wanted to change.
I suggested he simply remove the availability of chocolate and if necessary replace with fruit, fresh or dried.
He tried this and it worked. A relatively simple behavioural change, but not necessarily easy to do. But he did. He did it and it worked. He replaced one habit with another one. A bad habit with a good habit.
