Bill

This is an exercise story

Bill is a man I met whilst visiting a hospital. He was there taking a neighbour to get a hip seen to, and I was doing something similar. He looked like he had a few years on him, but he did not look old. We got talking. I noticed he was fit looking. I mean, as he was standing and walking he seemed flexible and agile. He didn’t seem to creak and find it tricky to stand. I noticed his face looked to have a number of years behind it, but his agility looked to be younger.

I decided to ask him about it.

He told me that he walks everyday. He goes for a five mile walk everyday, rain or shine. Turns out he was 85 years old. But his agility looked to be a lot less. And he put it down to his walking every day.

For Bill walking five miles a day keeps him fit and agile. He does something he can do. He does it regularly.

I am sure he eats sensibly as well but I didn’t ask him about that.

A great lesson to me on the power of exercise. Make it part of your routine. Make it something you can enjoy, not hard work. Make it a habit you and your body expect. And make it easy to do.
