About the Author

The Beach Diet approach is based purely on my experience and my observations.

  • I have no qualifications as a dietitian.
  • No medical qualifications.
  • No experience of advising anybody on weight management.

From my work in learning and development I have got experience of people struggling to make a change; of helping people improve how they do things like become more assertive; improve their presentation skills; explain complex ideas simply; deal with difficult situations in the workplace. I’ve been working in learning and development since 1996.

The Beach Diet is just an idea. An idea of how to approach eating. I’ve observed lots of different diets. Some of which work for some people and some which don’t. One observation is that some people seem to be on some sort of diet all of the time.

I came up with the idea of The Beach Diet because I can’t do any of the popular diets. The 5:2 works for some people. I can’t do a day with 500 calories. I can’t not eat some foods at all, like the no carb(carbohydrates) diet. Again it works for some people, but not for me because I love my carbs. I needed something different.

Having learnt and used behavioural change research in my learning and development work, I thought maybe it could apply to managing what I eat.

The result is the Beach Diet.
